Habitat: Occasional in rich fen dominated by Carex lasiocarpa. Saturated peat though no surface water. Quaky, mossy substrate (non-Sphagnum here). Full sun. Additional associates include Campanula aparinoides, Epilobium leptophyllum, Aster borealis, A. puniceus, Triadenum fraseri, Thelypteris palustris, Dryopteris cristata, Galium trifidum, Potentilla palustris, Menyanthes trifoliata, Liparis loeselii, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Agrostis scabra, Ribes hirtellum, Betula glandulifera, Salix petiolaris, Spiraea tomentosa, Larix laricina.
