Habitat: Relatively open pine forest dominated by Pinus banksiana. Large canopy gaps due to tres blown down in the windstorms of 1994-1996. Dense shrub layer dominated by Alnus and Corylus spp. Diverse ground cover dominated by Aster macrophyllus, Pteridium aquilinum, grasses, and in some locations Rubus and Vaccinium spp.
