Habitat: wet prairie in ecotone between wet meadow and oak woodland. Full sun to partial shade of Populus tremuloides & Cornus racemosa. Moist, organic soil. Associates include Carex buxbaumii, C. sartwellii, C. conoidea, C molesta, C interior, Poa palustris, Luzula multiflora, Hierochloe odorata, Galium boreale, Platanthera flava, Pedicularis lanceolata, Lathyrus palustris, Cirsium muticum, Campanula aparinoides, Saxifraga pennsylvanica, Veronicastrum virginicum, Solidago gigantea, Salix eriocephala.
