Habitat: rather strongly-rolling forested terrain ... in outer portions of poor fen, in five-acre basin. Rooted in wet peat, often in shallow water in the lag between the upland margin and firmer central portions of the sedge mat. Mostly in full sun. Associated species include Potentilla palustris, Calla palustris, Polygonum sagittatum, Cicuta bulbifera, Triadenum fraseri, Glyceria grandis, Carex lacustris, C. stricta, Dulichium arundinaceum
