Canopy dominated by mature Tilia americana & Acer saccarum with A. saccharum predominant in understory. Rich, dark, mesic loam. Associates include Osmorhiza claytonii, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Athrium angustum, Thalictrum dioicum, Uvularia grandiflora, Aster lateriflorus, A. macrophyllus, Mitella diphylla, Hepatica americana, Aralia nudicaulis, Ranunculus recurvatus, Carex pensylvanica.
