Habitat: At edge of grazed, overgrown bluff prairie, S aspect, with rock outcorps; on humus, litter, and sediments in crevices of sandstone rock outcrops with scattered plants in loose, sandy soil. all plants in 90% shade of Betula papyrifera and Populus tremuloides.
