Rugged forested terrain ... in vernal wetland in small (1/4-acre), shallow basin surrounded by mature mesic hardwood forest. Shaded below Fraxinus nigra growing on wetland margin ... shallow organic soil. Wetland currently dry, but wet or inundated earlier in growing season. Associated species include Carex retrorsa, Sium suave.
