Habitat: Steep, dissected slopes on side of gorge; dry, pastured prairie dominated by Bouteloua gracilis and Stipa comata. Soil sandy, full of stones; associated with Carex eleocharis, Koeleria macrantha, Artemisia frigida, Petalostemon occidentale, Lygodesmia juncea.
