Habitat: oxbow peninsula. Co-dominant in canopy with Juglans cinerea, Fraxinus pennsylvanica & Pinus resinosa. In dark, silty-sand. Other associates include Celtis occidentalis, Sambucus pubens, Solidago flexicaulis, Asarum canadense, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Hydrophyllum virginianum, Arisaema triphyllum.
