Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested moraine ... poor tamarack swamp on eastern side of small bog pond. Sparse canopy of short (~stunted) Larix laricina. Dominant to co-dominatn in ground layer with Betula glandulifera and Chamaedaphne calyculata. Full sun to partial shade. Quaky saturted peat; and on floating mat at edge of pond. Nearly continuous Sphagnum spp. moss carpets. Additional associates include Carex diandra, C. echinata, C. chordorrhiza, C. canescens, C. limosa, Eriophorum gracile, Dulichium arundinaceum, Thelypteris palustris, Sarracenia purpurea, Potentilla palustris, Sarracenia purpurea [sic], Spiraea tomentosa, S. alba, Alnus incana, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Andromeda glaucophylla.
