Habitat:
on low anorthositic outcrops rising here to ten feet out of the surrounding bog forest which is dominated by Picea mariana. Canopy here is interrupted due to the bedrock exposure. Partial shade. In fairly dry lichen mats over exposed bedrock. Associates include Vaccinium angustifolium, Cornus canadensis, Linnaea borealis, Schizachne purpurascens.
