Habitat: Forming sparse to dense canopy in 40 acre tamarack swamp. slightly bouncy peat mat which grades to shrubby rich fen. Associates include Lysimachia thrysiflora, Galium labradoricum, Caltha palustris, Saxifraga pennsylvanica, Platanthera hyperborea, Liparis loeselii, Cypripedium reginae, Sarracenia purpurea, Rubus pubescens, Carex pseudocyperus, C. leptalea, C. disperma, C. prairea, Betula glandulifera.
