Habitat: tamarack swamp under somewhat sparse canopy of Larix laricina. Partial to full shade. Wet areas beteen tree bases and Carex stricta hummocks. Other associates include Carex interior, C. prairea, Calamagrostis canadensis, Galium labradoricum, Caltha palustris, Thelypteris palustris, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Equisetum fluviatile, Betula glandulifera, Salix candida.
