Habitat: large tamarack swamp dominated by rather dense stand of Larix laricina. Drier mossy hummocks, including occasional Sphagnum sp., around tree bases. Full shade. Associates include Carex leptalea, C. disperma, Rubus pubescens, Liparis loeselii, Platanthera hyperborea, Corallorhiza trifida, Pyrola rotundifolia, Parthenocissus inserta, Rhamnus alnifolia, Ribes triste, R. hirtellum.
