Habitat: woodland dominated by Quercus ellipsoidalis & Populus tremuloides. Moist to dry loamy soil. Associated species include Prunus virginiana, Viburnum lentago, V. rafinesquianum, Corylus americana, Rhamnus cathartica, Rubus strigosus, Diervilla lonicera, Crataegus macracantha, Athyrium angustum, Galium triflorum, Fragaria virginiana.
Description: Anthers pink in bud. This tree with three stems, largest stem 1 inch dbh. Severl 10-15 foot tall trees in area. Uncommon elsewhere.
