Habitat:
in wet-mesic prairie. Forming rather dense patches of loose clumps. In mist to wet organic soil influenced by groundwater seepage. Associates include Juncus arcticus, Carex buxbaumii, Glyceria grandis, Zizia aurea, Hypoxis hirsuta, cicuta maculata, Salix bebbiana.
