... shrub swamp along [creek] ... Spongy, moist, organic substrate on slight southeast-facing slope ... Very widely-spaced canopy of Populus tremuloides & Betula papyrifera. Patchy, often dense shrub layer dominated by Alnus incana, Salix bebbiana, and Betula pumila. Additional associates include Rhamnus alnifolia, Lonicera caerulea, Amelanchier interior, Ribes hirtellum, R. triste, Equisetum arvense, E. sylvaticum, Carex gracillima, C. Stipata, C. intumescens, Glyceria striata, Galium asprellum, Dryopteris cristata, Rubus pubescens, Aster umbellatus, A. puniceus, Solidago uliginosa.
