Habitat: hardwood swamp fed by seepage from base of 40ft, south-facing upland slope. On margin of extensive Larix swamp. Canopy dominated by Betula allegheniensis, Fraxinus pennsylvanica & Acer rubrum, with occasional Rilia americana, Populus tremuloides & Betula papyrifera. Additional associates include Alnus incana, Carex stricta, C. lacustris, Thelypteris palustris, Osmunda cinnomomea [sic], Geranium maculatum, Athyrium angustum, Mitella nuda. Moist to wet peat.
