Habitat: semi-terrstrial forest forming narrow band along the west bank of the river. Canopy dominated by mature Fraxinus nigra, with occasioanl Abies balsamea and Tilia americana. Understory mostly Abies balsamea. Moist silty organic substrate ... on low feathermoss hummocks. Associates include Carex radiata, Equisetum arvense, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Botrychium virginianum, Rubus pubescens, Mitella nuda, Smilacina trifolia, S. racemosa, Aralia nudicaulis, Geum rivale, Solidago flexicaulis, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
