Habitat:
Rock ledge 250-300 feet above the valley floor in densely shaded woodlands dominated by lindens and maples, with intrusions of elm, ash and northern red oak. The plants grow upon the rocks heavily covered with soil, humus, lichens and mosses.
Description:
While the plant spreads by stolons, the character is not as marked as in E. pulchellus, and the plants frequently occur in bunches. The flowering ligules re white, not beset with blue as in E. pulchellus.
