Habitat: Occasional locally on steep, northwest-facing slope of 40-foot high terrace along the [river] at the [islands]. Narrow strip of mesic deciduous forest dominated by Tilia americana and Ulmus rubra. understory of Ostrya virginiana. Dark, sandy soil. Associates include Carex eburnea, C. deweyana, C. pedunculata, Solidago flexicaulis, Aquilegia canadensis, Asarum canadense, Uvularia sessilifolia, U. grandiflora, Polygonatum pubescens, Phryma leptostachya, Smilacina racemosa, Maianthemum canadense, Cornus racemosa, Ribes cynosbati.
