Habitat: Gently-rolling terrain; in slight canopy gap in northern hardwood forest dominated by Tilia americana and Populus tremuloides. On terrace 15 feet above stream level. Associates include Corylus cornuta, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Phryma leptostachya, Amphicarpaea bracteata, Thalictrum dioicum, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Osmunda claytoniana, Botrychium virginianum, Solidago glexicaulis, Elymus hystrix.
Description: Local, two understory trees. Single trunks 1 1/2 - 2 inches dbh.
