Nearly level sandy outwash plain ... On the edge of a patch of jack pine woodland, in the broad right-of-way ... Full sun to partial shade of Pinus banksiana. Dry, open sand. Associated species include Carex siccata, Dichanthelium linearifolium, Andropogon gerardii, Poa compressa, Calystegia spithamea, Viola adunca, Artemisia campestris, Campanula rotundifolia, Rubus sp., and two Cladonia spp. lichens.
