Habitat: Level to gently-rolling terrain along [river] ... in old pasture opening (~ 5 acres) in jack pine woodland ... in an area that was also used as a log landing for recent timber harvest. Dry sandy soil (often open sand). Full sun. Associates include Carex siccata, Cyperus houghtonii, Agropyron repens, Agrostis scabra, Andropogon gerardii, Poa pratensis, Rumex acetosella, Polygonum convolvulus, Geranium bicknellii, Potentilla argentea, Physalis virginiana, P. heterophylla, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Conyza canadensis, Verbascum thapsus.
