Habitat: On 3/4-mile long, south-facing, dry diabase cliff forming upper portion of 250-foot ridge along [trail]. Occasional in localized areas of extremely steep colluvial soil and talus which occur perched at various levels of these 60 to 120-foot cliffs. these are dry, shrub-dominated areas. Associates include Symphoricarpos albus, Rhus glabra, Amelanchier sp., Rubus strigosus, Prunus virginiana, Rosa acicularis, Diervilla lonicera, Corylus cornuta, Toxicodendron rybergii, Carex merritt-fernaldii, Agropyron trachycaulum, Woodsia ilvensis, Solidago juncea, Aquilegia canadensis.
