Habitat: five acre band of mature ash swamp along small stream through large tamarack swamp complex. Interrupted canopy dominated by mature Fraxinus pennsylvanica with frequent F. nigra. Moist, mossy organic soil, higher areas. Assocites include Carex radiata, C. aurea, C. brunnescens, C. bromoides, Glyceria striata, Galium asprellum, Caltha palustris, Geum rivale, Rubus pubescens, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Toxicodendron rydbergii, Amphicarpaea bracteata, Parthenocissus inserta.
