Habitat: on north side of ridge, growing in thick layer of leaves and needles, from a moss mat. On steep forested slope of Thuja occidentalis, Betuala [sic] spp. occasional Picea mariana, and Abies < 2 m tall, in dense patches at base of low basalt cliffs. Acer spicatum common in understory. No herbaceous associates.
