Habitat: steep, 50ft, north-facing cliff; In crevices on the dry very uppermost portion of large cliff formed by the river's cutting of upturned bedrock of the Thomson formation (slate & graywacke). Sparse canopy atop cliff dominated by Pinus strobus, P. resinosa & Thuja occidentalis. Associated with Polypodium virginianum & lichens.
