Habitat: floodplain forest on small island. Canopy composed of Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Betula nigra & Quercus bicolor. Dark silt-loam. Associates include Viburnum lentago, Boehmeria cylindrica, Scutellaria lateriflora, Lysimachia nummularia.
Description: Local and uncommon. Two- 4-6m tall understory trees. No reporductive parts present.
