Level, sandy, outwash terrain ... Forming the dominant cover in wetter portions of rich sedge fen which forms a broad zone on the east side of [lake]. Very quaky, wet peat; typically in shallow water. Full sun. Associated species include Carex lasiocarpa, C. prairea, C. echinata, Eleocharis elliptica, Triadenum fraseri, Sagittaria latifolia, Utricularia minor, U. vulgaris, Potamogeton gramineus.
