Habitat: Along the northern and eastern shorelines ... In upper and lower beach zones; up to 12 inches above the lake level, and up to 10 feet from the water's edge. Moist gravelly soil. Full sun. Associated species include Leersia oryzoides, Carex vulpinoidea, C. scoparia, Eleocharis palustris, E. acicularis, Schoenoplectus acutus, Cyperus strigosus, Juncus tenuis, Penthorum sedoides, Sagittaria latifolia.
