Level to gently-rolling forested terrain ... rich conifer swamp ... Fairly dense canoopy dominated by Larix laricina and Picea mariana. Scattered Alnus incana in patchy understory. Carpets of Sphagnum spp., and feathermosses cover the forest floor. Moist peat. Associated species include Dryopteris carthusiana, Thelypteris palustris, Cornus canadensis, Linnaea borealis, Trientalis borealis, Lycopus uniflorus, Rubus pubescens, Pyrola secunda, Carex leptalea, Rhamnus alnifolia, Cornus stolonifera ... on higher hummocks.
