Habitat: Along the shore...in moist crevices and small meadow-like patches of vegetation dominated by Scirpus cespitosus on margins of rock pools...In storm-wave zone on upper portion of southeasterly-tilted, much-fractured, broad basalt shelf 20-25 feet above lake level. Full sun. Additional associates include Primula mistassinica, Pinguicula vulgaris, Solidago ptarmicoides, Aster umbellatus, Malaxis unifolia, Prenanthes alba, Tofieldia pusilla, Alnus viridis, Potentilla fruticosa, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Carex paupercula, Carex cephalantha.
