Habitat: Rolling moraine ... in tamarack swamp. Patchy canopy dominated by Larix laricina, with occasional Picea mariana. Understory with frequent Alnus incana. Deep saturated peat. Partial to full shade. Associated species include Glyceria canadensis, Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex lacustris, C. trisperma, Equisetum fluviatile, Smilacina trifolia, Menyanthes trifoliata, Caltha palustris, Drypteris carthusiana, Betula glandulifera, Ledum groenlandicum, Alnus incana.
