Habitat: On mossy hummocks in tamarac swamp dominated by patchy to dense, mature Larix laricina. Associates include Carex gynocrates, C. magellanica, C. brunnescens, Pyrola secunda, P. asarifolia, Caltha palustris, Thelypteris palustris, Platanthera hyperborea, Smilacina trifoliata, Malaxis uniflora, Mitella nuda, Rubus pubescens, Menyanthes trifoliata, Cypripedium reginae, Linnaea borealis, Cornus canadensis, Lonicera villosa, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Andromeda glaucophylla, Ledum groenlandicum, Alnus incana, Betula glandulifera.
