Habitat: old trail running east/west...through semi-terrestrial black spruce stand. Canopy dominated by Picea mariana, with frequent Betula papyrifera. In wet spots, often with Sphagnum mosses. Moist to saturated peat. Associates include Equisetum sylvaticum, Aster umbellatus, Rubus pubescens, Diervilla lonicera, Rosa cf. acicularis, Clintonia borealis, Abies balsamea seedlings.
