Habitat: mossy crevices of the mile-long diabase feature. On segments of the cliff which range from 50-150 feet tall. Many plants in partial shade of Pinus strobus, Sorbus decora, Thuja occidentalis, Alnus viridis, Betula cordifolia, and B. papyrifera on the fairly heavily forested cliff. Also on the upper, shaded portion of the talus slope below the cliff. Associates include Carex eburnea, Agrostis scabra, Poa sp., Huperzia selago, H. appalachiana, Woodsia ilvensis, Polypodium virginianum, Saxifraga virginiensis, Campanula rotundifolia, Abies balsamea.
