Habitat: A brushy habitat in a long-abandoned pasture ... Associated with Rhus glabra, Symphoricarpos occidentalis, Zanthoxylum americanum, Crataegus punctata.
Description: Flower buds just starting to open (C. chrysocarpa flowered ca 1 week earlieri.) A shrub with a single stem 2 m tall, and 3 cm basal dia. Stamens ca 10, anthers pink. Simple thorns fairly abundant; compound thorns absent.
