Habitat: Small kettle-hole bogs (poor fens) in steeply-rolling terrain. Occasional in Shagnum on floating mat. Full sun to partial shade of scattered Larix laricina. Associates include Carex limosa, C. lasiocarpa, C. chordorrhiza, C. lutriculata [sic], Dulichium arundinaceum, Eriophorum angustifolium, Scheuchzeria palustris, Thelypteris palustris, Triadenum fraeri, Calla palustris, Sagittaria latifolia, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Spiraea tomentosa, Andromeda glaucophylla.
