Habitat:
in small poor fen ("cranberry bog") in slight, three acre depression atop 60 foot wooded hill. Full sun to partial shade. Spongy, continuous Sphagnum substrte. Associates include Betula glandulifera, Acer rubrum, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Spiraea tomentosa, Thelypteris palustris, Triadenum fraseri, Drosera rotundifolia, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Sagittaria latifolia, Carex chordorrhiza, C. lacustris, C. utriculata, Dulichium arundinaceum
