Habitat: Growing in a lowland hardwood forest that occurs on large bedrock blocks by the [river]. Partial tree canopy of Fraxinus nigra, Quercus macrocarpa, and Acer rubrum; Diervilla lonicera, Rubus strigosus, and a variety of Carex and mosses are common below.
