Habitat: five acre boggy floating mat in small depression surrounded by wooded 20-40 foot hills. Strongly-rolling morainal terrain; Partial shade of Larix laricina. Forms carpet-like patches in Sphagnum moss. Associates include Vaccinium macrocarpon, Ledum groenlandicum, Calla palustris, Scirpus cyperinus, Carex lasiocarpa, petasites sagittatus, Potentilla palustris, Salix petiolaris, Acer rubrum.
