Habitat: Rugged terrain...old growth northern hardwood forest on gradual southeast-facing slope atop 180-foot ridge...Canopy dominated by large Acer saccharum locally, with scattered Betula allegheniensis [sic] in vicinity. Understory dominated by Acer saccharum. Rocky, loamy soil. Associates include Oryzopsis asperifolia, Carex pedunculata, Dryopteris intermedia, Clintonia borealis, Maianthemum canadense, Polygonatum pubescens.
