Habitat: Rolling terrain along south side of [road]. Infrequent in ecotonal area from northern hardwood forest to shrub swamp. On raised hummocks in moist organic soil. Canopy here of Fraxinus pennsylanica, Tilia americana, Acer saccharum. Additional associates: Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Acer rubrum, A. Spicatum, Alnus incana, Parthenocissus inserta, Rubus pubscens, Laportea canadensis, Scutellaria lateriflora, Bidens connata, Pilea fontana, Equisetum arvense, Onoclea sensibilis, Carex leptalea.
