Associates include Festuca ovina, Andropogon gerardii, Geum triflorum, Heuchera richardsonii, Phlox pilosa, Lithospermum caroliniense, Artemisia ludoviciana, Sisyrinchium montanum, Viola pedatifida, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Solidago speciosa.
