Habitat: on floating sedge mat on the boggy margin of shallow marly lake. In open tamarack swamp on northeast side of lake. Saturated peat. Partial shade of Larix laricina. In Sphagnum mosses. Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. limosa, Typha x glauca, Scheuchzeria palustris, Drosera rotundifolia, Potentilla palustris, Thelypteris palustris, Aster umbellatus, Sarracenia purpurea, Sagittaria latifolia, Betula glandulifera, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Cornus stolonifera.
