Habitat:
gradual north-facing slope atop steep, 220 foot bluff at point where aspect changes from west to north. Mesic oak forest dominated locally by Quercus alba. Canopy sparse due to recent loggin. Understory of Ostrya virginiana, Acer saccharum, and A. negundo. Silt-loam. Associates include Geranium maculatum, Laportea canadensis, Actaea pachypoda, Aralia nudicaulis, Panax quinquefolium, Osmorhiza longistylis, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Allium tricoccum, Athyrium angustum, Viola pubescens, Ribes cynosbati.
