Understory of Ostrya virginiana, Acer saccharum, and A. negundo. Silt-loam. Associates include Geranium maculatum, Laportea canadensis, Actaea pachypoda, Aralia nudicaulis, Panax quinquefolium, Osmorhiza longistylis, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Allium tricoccum, Athyrium angustum, Viola pubescens, Ribes cynosbati.
