Habitat: Large open sphagnum fen;
Substrate: on floating Sphagnum mat, w/ and without Sphagnum cover w/ C. lasicarpa. On saturated to slightly inundated substrate.
Associated Species: Carex lasiocarpa, C. rostrata, Dulichium arundinaceum, Scirpus acutus. Surrounding forest dominated to east by P. ponderosa and P. contorta and to the west by P. monticola, Thuja plicata, Abies grandis, Picea engelmanni, and Tsuga heterophylla

Notes: Occasional; Water chemistries: total hardness 10 mg/l, Ca 2.72 mg/l, Mg 0.78 mg/l. Substrate pH 5.5.
