Habitat: tan sandy soil in small dry prairie on moderately steep, southeast-facing slopes of 40 foot sand terrace. Full sun. Associates include Calamovilfa long., Andropogon gerardii, Schizachrium [sic] scoparium, Poa pratensis, Cenchrus longispinus, Helianthus rigidus, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Aster ericoides, A. oolentangiensis, Lespedeza capitata, Euphorbia glyptosperma, Salix humilis.
