Habitat: shrub swamp along [creek]...Spongy, moist, organic substrate on slight southeast-facing slope...Very widely-spaced canopy of Populus tremuloides & Betula papyrifera. Patchy, often dense shrub layer dominated by Alnus incana, Salix bebbiana, and Betula pumila. Additional associates include Lonicera caerulea, Amelanchier interior, Ribes hirtellum, R. triste, Ledum groenlandicum, Equisetum arvense, Carex laptalea, C. disperma, C. gracillima, C. intumescens, Glyceria striata, Galium asprellum, Dryopteris cristata, Rubus pubescens, Aster umbellatus, A. puniceus, Soligao uliginosa.
